About Costa Rica

Costa Rica is a safe, peaceful country known as the Switzerland of Central America. In Costa Rica foreigners are allowed to purchase and own real estate—unlike most Latin American countries. Real estate property in Costa Rica has been appreciating in value very steadily. Costa Rica has become a popular destination for a lot of Americans, Canadians and Europeans.  Our oceanview property in Costa Rica is located in the Central Pacific Region where the weather is very predictable (and favorable) all year round.

  • One of the smallest countries in Central America , Costa Rica is bordered by Nicaragua and Panama (north and south, respectively) and is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea (west and east).
  • The country is divided into seven provinces: San Jose (the capital), Alajuela, Cartago, Heredia, Guanacaste, Puntarenas and Limon.
  • Population about 4 million inhabitants.
  • The official language is Spanish, however English is widely spoken.
  • A democratic republic and elections are held every four years. The country abolished the army almost 50 years ago, and has since been the most stable democracy in Central America.
  • Costa Rica has one of the highest literacy rates in Latin America , and education is public and free.
  • There are two main seasons, the dry season (summer) which is from December to April, and the rainy season (Winter), also known as the green season, which is from May to November. The temperature varies between the mountains and the lowlands. In the Central Valley temperatures range between 60°F and 79°F. On the coast the tropical temperatures range between 70°F and 90°F. The Caribbean coast has high humidity while the Guanacaste region is arid.
  • The most common public transportation is the bus.
  • Internet cafes are found everywhere in the country.
  • Water is safe to drink all throughout the country.
